Lewisham College inc Southwark College is now one of the largest Colleges in London, with over 20,000 learners and circa 850 staff. We are committed to diversifying and improving our offer to benefit our learners, employers and the diverse community in south-east London that we serve.

This critical role will require you to lead the development and delivery of the Plumbing and Electrical provision within the College. You will report to the Head of Construction and Technical Services and manage a team of approximately 10 lecturers and technicians. Your budget responsibility will be circa GBP 1million.

You will build and maintain the highest standards of curriculum design, support and delivery, focusing on learner success and employer needs. As an inspirational team leader, you will be capable of communicating your vision powerfully and persuasively to your team, in the pursuit of excellence for our learners.

The successful candidate will teach Plumbing or Electrical Installation for 5 hours a week and will be committed to developing their own teaching practise. You will also coach, manage and inspire your team to deliver innovative and engaging lessons that ensure learner success. You will be responsible for ensuring your team recruit and retain a healthy number of students as well as raise and maintain excellent success rates.

To be suitable for this role you must have a full teaching qualification and relevant teaching experience. You will also have exceptional people and performance management skills to motivate and inspire staff. You will be adept at seeking opportunities for business development and for monitoring targets and improvement strategies. You will know what an effective curriculum looks like and how to make it happen for our learners.
