A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a L2 Network/Telecoms Field Engineer to join a national provider of air transport communications and I.T solutions.

-To provide 2nd line field support function, as well as remote support for LHR Airports Telecoms Infrastructure, maintaining the networking infrastructure to pre-defined service levels, working with other L2 Engineers, technicians and the business as a whole. Perform all field services activities according to SITA standards and procedures, maximizing customer satisfaction by the delivery of first class on-site field maintenance and support activities
-A good foundation and background in networking to provide support is required. Training/ mentoring will be delivered in-house, providing the successful candidate with a clear path to progress their career within Network / IT Support.
-For the technical competencies, a high level knowledge of LAN Protocol Troubleshooting, WAN Troubleshooting, and LAN Equipment Configuration is necessary.
-This role will have huge potential to grow and develop within the business in the long term for the right candidate.

Education and Qualifications:

-Minimum Degree level qualification in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or equivalent Telecommunications in country qualification
- Technical knowledge to be the level of a CCNA as a minimum


-Minimum 2 years experience in onsite support activities and repairs of PCs, Printers, and LAN, WAN equipment.
-Must have dealt directly with external customers delivering to SLAs.
-Experience of working at Customer locations.
-Experience of working in the Airport / Airline industry preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

-Minimum of Three years experience working in a IT Telecoms / Network (Predominantly Cisco) support role.
-Excellent communications skills both fluent verbal and written in the English language, ability to communicate with clients at all levels in a professional manner, able to explain complex requirements in a clear and concise manner
-Good understanding of Cisco hieratical model, networking technologies and associated physical infrastructure practices.
-Knowledge of TCP/IP and associated technologies including fibre, copper and general cabling.
-Basic knowledge of Remote access technologies inc VPN, Citrix, WAN
'Certified CCNA level or higher.
-A background in Network field support essential, from socket repair, cabling to switch / router configuration and replacements.
-The use of test equipment such as Fluke LAN testers, OTDR's etc
-knowledge of Microsoft systems and product sets
-Advanced analytical, customer service and Problem Solving skills
-Experience of producing / completing work in stringent timescales
-Exposure of management systems, such as Smarts, Alterpoint.
-Excellent knowledge of Remedy (Incident, Change and Problem system)
-Some Commercial experience would be highly desirable
-Knowledge of ITIL and Service Management practices and procedures
-Full valid UK driving licence
-To pass a criminal records check for airside working, together with accountability of 5 year working history. (This is an aviation security requirement)

Desirable Skills:

-Networking Skills ' Switches /Routers /Firewalls
-CCNP, CCIP or other Cisco certifications Highly advantageous
-VOIP and other communications technologies
-WLAN Aruba technologies skills
-Radio technologies understandings
-ITIL (any)
-CSCS pass
-Heathrow Airport geography

Additional Information:

-Role is based at compass center (BAA) on Bath Road
-This is a shift role
-2 days
-2 nights
-4 rest days
-Shifts are 12 hours
-Please note that you will be required to visit customer sites therefore a driving licence would be highly desirable
-The role will be desk and/or field based
