British Gas requires a Procurement Category Manager to work at our office in Staines, West London. The Procurement Category Manager to assist us in procuring best value solutions for all our activities - initially including categories such as smart metering and associated services.


Salary up to £45,000 - £55,000. Package to circa £75,000

Procurement Category Manager - The Role:
Undertake category assessment to generate innovative opportunities and robust strategic sourcing plans.
Work with Business Stakeholders; manage all procurement and supplier management activity across expenditure categories.
Implementation of appropriate procurement, supplier management and strategic sourcing strategies for each expenditure category, ensuring that these are in line with business objectives, regulatory requirements whilst also delivering best value.
Develop, implement and maintain Strategic Supplier Relationship Management services such as supplier appraisal and performance monitoring, value analysis, continuous improvement, supplier / supply base development, compliance and demand management.
Keep proactively abreast of market dynamics, regulatory framework, suppliers, technical and product information in order to ensure that the business takes advantage of all relevant developments,

Procurement Category Manager - The Person:

Graduate and or Membership of relevant professional bodies, preferably MCIPS.
Broad knowledge of strategic supplier management and relevant industries.
Detailed understanding of relevant categories.
Comprehensive knowledge of strategic procurement.
Knowledge of Supplier management and its impact on change and service delivery
Experience in category managerment such as IT, Telecom Services, smart meetering
