King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a progressive and dynamic Acute Teaching Hospital in South London with a well-established in-house legal team.

A vacancy has arisen and we are seeking a talented and enthusiastic paralegal to join the Legal Services Department. The successful candidate will be a qualified (or be currently studying for qualification) paralegal, through ILEX or similar, or hold a law degree (or be currently studying for one). You will have demonstrable experience working within a legal setting. You will be highly motivated, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess a strong practical and common sense approach to problem solving. This is a very challenging and diverse role within a changing multi-disciplinary healthcare environment, which will bring you into contact with staff at all levels within the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

Having conduct (under supervision) of a large number of inquest files, requiring analysis, requesting of reports and statements and attendance with clinical staff at the Coroner's Court.

Having conduct (under supervision) of all public liability and employers liability claims made against the Trust, involving obtaining and collating relevant evidence, and undertaking liability investigations.

Dealing with all police requests for information from the Trust, in respect of the detection and prevention of serious crime.

Drafting warning and banning letters to disruptive and violent patients and members of the public, ensuring these are in accordance with Human Rights principles.

Generally assisting the solicitors in their work as requested.
