This position provides advanced security services within guidelines established by the Organization and contractual obligations. Attends to the safety, security and transportation needs of program participants, including but not limited to unaccompanied minors, wards of the state, and other detained populations. Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives, within the framework outlined below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervises program participants individually or in groups and provides security for the safety and well-being of staff and program participants.
Monitors electronic security equipment, conducts perimeter checks inside and outside the facility, monitors movement of program participants within program guidelines, and conducts roll-call and other count/search activities.
Responds immediately to security and safety breaches, including but not limited to attempts to abscond, physical altercations, and attempts by program participants to put self or others at risk of harm.
During off-site activities, monitors and controls movement of program participants and responds immediately to security and safety breaches as outlined above.
Provides physical restraint as needed in accord with restraint and crisis intervention training and program guidelines.
Provides transportation services for new arrivals and releases to airports, Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices, etc.
Provides secure transportation of program participants in agency vehicle or on public transportation to and from appointments, activities, etc.
Ensures safety and security of participants during transport in accord with above-named security responsibilities.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and three years of experience in security and transportation.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) card is required.
Other Qualifications: A valid driver%u2019s license required. Must successfully pass background check.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with detained populations and/or institutional settings preferred.
Language Skills: Fluency in a second language may be required.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to respond to crisis situations and develop appropriate responses to unexpected situations.

Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

The employee may be required to remain on Organization premises during breaks and/or meal periods and may be required to stay on Organization premises until their replacement arrives.
The position requires carrying a cellular phone and responding to on-call requests.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
